Anchorage, Alaska – United States Attorney Karen L. Loeffler announced today that Jessica Cooper, a resident of Sacramento, California was sentenced in federal court in Juneau to 13 months and 20 days for her conviction of conspiracy to distribute and to possess with the intent to distribute oxycodone.

United States District Judge Timothy M. Burgess imposed the sentence on Cooper, 22.

According to information presented to the court by Assistant United States Attorney Jack S. Schmidt, Cooper was contacted by law enforcement at the SEATAC airport in possession of 667, 80mg oxycodone pills for subsequent distribution in Juneau, Alaska. The defendant was arrested on January 25, 2011, in Sacramento, California and has been detained since then.

Prior to imposing sentence, Judge Burgess indicated the seriousness of the offense.

Ms. Loeffler commended the Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) for the investigation leading to the successful prosecution of Cooper.
